Had similar product for 20+ years. New product works great but the display lack of brightness on display is disappointing. TO look at it from a distance you cannot read the time This, if known beforehand , could have been a deciding factor in our purchases

Had this microwave about two months. Was heating up a cup of coffee, and it started on FIRE. It's a good thing I didn't leave the kitchen, because I stopped it as soon as I saw flames in side.

Microwave performs as advertised. Was able to install it as a built in. The control panel display is on the dim side but manageable to operate. There was confusion on the Home Depot ordering page as to whether or not there was a protective film on the control panel; the answer to my question was there wasn't one. My call to GE support revealed otherwise and I was able to remove it.

We love our new Microwave as it is easy to use. It replaced our older GE which was over 20 years old. One suggestion that would make the machine perfect: allow the panel controls to light up as the clock does.

I went with the highest capacity, biggest dimensions, solid child safety controls, the most power, top of the line features, & the best warranty I could find & it came in 75$ u.s.d. cheaper than the last 2 microwaves i bought that both died after 1 year of service. This was 160$ compared to 235$ and this is the 1.6cu ft @ 1200 WATTS the other ones i bought was only 0.9cu ft and 900 watts how can i go wrong?

Capacity size is good for our needs. Control panel is a bit busy and confusing from previous other brand. You have to initiate cook time if you want to cook anything less than 1 minute & can™€™t just put in the seconds to start it. There is no melt feature for baking prep which I™€™ll miss but knew that when I ordered. Design is just ok. The top has inverted areas instead of a smooth top. It probably wouldn™€™t look that great or sleek exposed in kitchen area but we have ours in the pantry for use. Performance and power are ok. It seems to take longer to heat things up than prior other brand model which had lower wattage which seems odd. The button to open unit seems jiggly (hope this holds up) and the door is very loud when you close it. Would have preferred it in black stainless, but it wasn™€™t available for a while. It™€™s ok but with the issues above it™€™s getting 3 stars.

This was a replacement for an older GE microwave, same model. We like this microwave as it is compact yet has a higher wattage than similarly sized and priced units. It has intuitive controls and is easy to use and clean. We evaluated many microwaves and came back to this exact model as a replacement. It gets a lot of use at our house and has the features that we need most as well as a nice 1.6 cubic foot capacity.

Really dark display, keypad lettering and light

Unreasasonably dark display, keypad lettering and light. I replaced a 15 year old countertop black ge unit for this new black model. I saw some reviews where they said the display and letterig were dark but I figured how bad can it be. Well, it is really, really bad. The interior light is really poor also. If I had seen this in person before ordering, it would have been a dealbreaker. Pics do not really show the issue as the phone canera actually brightens things. If these are concerns fir you, trust me, they are real. Advise loiking for a different model or manufacturer. Just unboxed today, seems to cook ok but the issues described are terrible. I will talk with ge to see if this is a defective unit or something but I fear it is not a defect.... Really, really dark. Bring a flashlight and reading glasses when u get ready to ciok something.

Loud and uncertain of life expectancy

The first one we bought stopped working after two uses. We bought the "black stainless"but it didn't match our other black stainless appliance from GE...it was more of a silver color. It wasn't near my other appliances, so it wasn't a big deal. But when it stopped working, we returned it and purchased the same microwave in black. This one is working fine, but it has an odd sound for the first few seconds and it really runs loud. Just wondering how long this one will last?!?! If it gives trouble, I will not buy GE again.

Love my new microwave!

I have had an over the range microwave for years, which I have not liked. Too difficult to reach up to remove things from the unit. Finally, I got a new countertop microwave and I love it! I has several special choices such as 'beverage' that automatically heats water to just the right temperature for hot tea. Easy to use and cooks everything just right.
