Auto Presets for Melt, Simmer, Keep Warm and Boil Automatically set the right heat for different techniques and stages of cooking, taking the guesswork out of choosing settings.

Control Lock Disables cooking mode for easy cleaning when not in use.

Frameless Design Allows flush installation for a seamless look or standard installation to fit an existing cooktop cutout.

Pan Size Detection Recognizes the size and placement of cookware to generate heat directly within the pan. An indicator light and sound will alert you if you turn the cooktop on without a pan on the selected element or if your pan is not compatible with induction cooking.

Power Boost Function Allows you to exceed the maximum heat-level setting for 5 minutes, to help you get to a rapid boil

Requires Induction-Compatible Cookware Such as multi-ply stainless steel, enamelled steel or cast iron. Aluminum and copper cookware will not work unless it has a base made of iron or steel. Look for pans marked "Works with Induction" or test to see if a magnet will stick to the bottom.

Sensor Induction Technology Generates heat directly within cookware, reaching high temperatures quickly and cooling down rapidly for precise control that enables a full range of cooking techniques.

Touch-Activated Controls For assisted cooking modes, auto presets and numerical power settings are simple to use. The seamless design is also easy to clean.

Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

I do like the added timer

Giddyup 9/21/2026

This is the second Kitchenaid induction cooktop for me. The 1st was purchased approx 10 yrs ago. I absolutely LOVED it. Unfortunately, I had to replace. There is very little good I have to say about this new one. Burners are EXTREMELY slow to heat, burners cook unevenly. The largest burner can take up to 30-40 (on 9-P) minutes for water to boil. I have drawers underneath cooktop. Spoons, spatulas etc. get too hot to touch when cooktop is in use. I called retail store to ask about the extreme heat and they sent a factory authorized repairman. His diagnosis was extreme heat was something I had to live with. Controls are too sensitive. I will give a rating of 2 stars as stove eventually does the job.

Broke within 5 mins. DON'T BUY

JHernandez 9/14/2026

Stove broke within 5 minutes of being plugged in, installed by a professional electrician, but Kitchen Aid refusing to honor warranty because we didn't hire their electrician. I was boiling water on the left-most burner, then heard a loud POP, and the the two right-side burners gave an error code and stopped working. Called kitchenAid, the sent a technician that couldn't find what failed exactly. He confirmed that installation was done properly and he put in his report so that engineering could send someone. Two days later I get a email from KitchenAid/Whirpool claiming that because they didn't install it (which cost additional, on top of the buying price) that will not honor the warranty. This is outrageous, I have replied appropriately, but people need to know. I asked a kitchen aid technician that came to install something else and he told me the electronic cards fail often, and that it cost a ton to replace. DON'T BUY

BKuykendall 9/6/2026

This cooktop has worked out very well for us. It™€™s a little bit of a learning curve but well worth it. It boils water very fast and keeps a consistent temperature. I am very pleased with this purchase. Preheat is not necessary and the cooktop responds very quickly.

Great appearance in the kitchen.

Ky36 9/2/2026

One drawback is the noises the control panel makes when you wipe it off with any wet cloth. Cleaning a completely unobstructed surface of the cooktop is a definite plus. I do enjoy the response of any unit when increasing the heating level. Also, the rapid cooling of units is a great advantage.

Love my KitchenAid induction cooktop!

Christie0713 9/1/2026

I love my KitchenAid induction cooktop, model KCIG550JBL. It cooks great, heats quickly, and I really like the added peace of mind that comes with induction. I don™€™t have to worry nearly as much about someone forgetting to turn a burner off or one of the kids accidentally leaving the cooktop on. It also looks really nice and is super easy to clean. I love that when I™€™m not using it, I can cover it and basically have extra ™€œcounter™€ space. My only two complaints are that I wish it had more than one large cooking element, and I really wish KitchenAid made or included a clear silicone protective mat specifically for this cooktop. I™€™d love something I could cook directly on that would protect the glass from scratches while still allowing me to see the burner markings and controls. Right now I use a black silicone cooktop mat that I bought on Amazon, and it has kept my cooktop scratch-free for over a year. We actually cook right on top of it so we don™€™t risk scratching the glass, but because it covers the burner markings, we basically have to guess where the burners are when placing our pans. A clear mat made specifically for this cooktop would be perfect so you could protect the glass and still see exactly where the burners and controls are. I definitely recommend having some type of protective mat if you buy this cooktop. Other than those two things, I™€™ve been very happy with it and would definitely recommend it!

Great induction cooktop

RCPINO2003 9/1/2026

This cooktop Has been a good addition to the kitchen. The speed of reheating is amazing and the heat cosisttininty is great. Carbon steel pans work great when searing meat and water can be brought to a boil very quickly. I can set the burner to simmer and it works perfectly for things like holandaise sauce. The only thing I would change is the burner placement. The center large burner is good but there are two .medium burners on the back and two smaller ones at the front. I would have liked one of each in the front. Overall I like the performance and safety of the cooktop. I appreciate not having to torn a burner off when I remove a pan, it senses there is nothing there and shuts off the burner. The integrated timer is handy and all the touch controls are nice. I use the boil function often, it senses and adjusts the heat to keep pots from boiling over. Overall it is a very good cooktop and I would reccomend it.

Slow response to touchpad, large burner is supposed to sense the size of cookware to go from small to large burner. Has Never worked properly. Had to have multiple things replaced on it and it is still not adequate. I do appreciate the induction part where things heat up quickly and immediately turn off. But have been dismayed with the quality of this particular induction cooktop.

Damaged during manufacturing; small cooktop

Disappointed PM 7/29/2026

The induction cooktop was installed July 10, 2025. We began having issues soon thereafter. The cooktop would trip the breaker every time it was used. An electrician confirmed the electricity connecting the cooktop was working fine. The problem must be with the cooktop itself. A warranty call with KitchenAid / Whirlpool was made and on March 3 2026 the technician identified wires were smashed during manufacturing causing the unit to trip the breaker. The technician attempted to order the replacement parts; however, the Whirlpool tier 2 tech support for the technician said there were no parts available to repair the problem. The tech and the tier 2 support would attempt to order parts although neither was confident they would be the right ones. Beginning on March 3, 2026 (at this appointment), the unit was disconnected and unavailable for us to use. We were without a cooktop for over two months. During this timeframe, Whirlpool technicians were dispatched with parts - every single time with the wrong part. Additionally with each attempt to repair, another problem arose. First the front right element wouldn't work, then the back right element wouldn't work. Now the middle and largest element won't work. It is now July 29, 2026 and we still do not have a working cooktop. Whirlpool is insisting that additional parts need to be ordered and installed to correct all of the issues rather than simply agree that a better customer experience would be to replace the unit entirely. I would also agree with the other comments saying the layout of the burners is not helpful when trying to cook with multiple sizes of pans. Once a large pan is on the middle burner, it crowds the other smaller burners making them unavailable for use.

Dont buy

TEALLE 7/28/2026

We are just finishing a total remodel of our kitchen and purchased this cooktop based on the experience with our prior unit made by KitchenAid. Unfortunately this was a bad decision. The unit was ordered in September last year direct from KitchenAid. The unit was just installed in July this year and used three time. First problem, the burner had a dark spot that was not heating. Called KitchenAid and a tech was sent by the Whirlpool approved repair vendor. I was told the dark spot was due to the way heating element was manufactured and he had not seen that before. They did install a new heating element and he called the Whirlpool tech to make sure nothing was wrong. The ironic thing is that element is called Even-Heat Ultra Power and it has a spot that does not heat. Second problem, the stove stopped working. Called again and a tech was sent. This the wiring had burned out due to the manufacturing not connecting the contacts fully. It needs a new heating element and a new wiring harness. The element is an easy item to get but the wiring at first was not available. Now we were told another week or so for it to be sourced. After three calls, two to KitchenAid and one to their repair vendor we are still waiting with no firm date. Seems odd that kitchen would sell a defective cooktop with a wiring issue and not just replace it. At this point I would never recommend this cooktop based on the experience with the product and customer service. This could have started a fire with the short. Its unfortunate in that it is US made. Whirlpool what ever happened to standing behind your products.

Bad induction

Nunya1 6/30/2026

This is nothing like the induction inhad in my other house. Doesn™€™t boil water in 90 seconds, doesn™€™t heat quickly, and it is a weird configuration. Why would the 2 small burners be in front and the 2 mediums be in back? I end up using the large one in the middle most of the time. We are a family of 2. Small burners is for heating like a can of vegetables in a small pan. It is difficult to get the temperature correct to cook and it is more like an electric cooktop. Slow to heat and hard to get the right temp to cook on. I have to use 7 or 8 to get it hot to cook and then down to 5 or 6, sometimes 7 to be able to keep the heat on the pan

Love it so far!

HollandG 11/13/2025

So far I love my new cooktop. It™€™s heats up fast. I am still learning on how hot each temperature setting is and that™€™s a learning curve. You cannot sit anything on top of the glass where the controls are or you will get a beeping sound. Took me a couple times to figure out where and why it was alarming. Mostly I was setting a pan on it and it beeped, but once I sat a damp kitchen towel on it and it alarmed as well. So I try and be aware to not set anything on that area of the cooktop which is a little annoying but I get why. A couple of times after turning on a second burner, the first burner that was already on and being used turned off. It beeps when this happens so you can quickly see that it™€™s turned off. Not sure what™€™s happening there. Overall I love it though. It™€™s beautiful and sleek and looks so much better than a slide in range.

AZ Cactus 9/3/2025

This is the second Kitchenaid Induction cooktop that we have purchased. The last one started to fail and the cooktop and parts were not longer available. The new cooktop has 5 burners instead of 4. This makes it difficult to use several pans at the same time. It has 1 large burner, 2 small, and 2 slightly larger burners. I much preferred the 4 burners - 1 large, 2 medium, and 1 small. But I do like induction.

Small in front 7/21/2025

It was the only induction I could fine with the five burners. I would have preferred to have a large burner in the front , at least one. It seems strange that both of them are on the back side of the cooktop. Other than that, I love it. OH darn it all, they know have one with a double use side for a grill and the other side has a large one in front and small one in the back and still the big pot in the middle. It™€™s exactly what I couldn™€™t find.

Shaftca 7/21/2025

Purchased after my 3 year old cooktop had an unwarranted part break that was not replaceable. Whirlpool offered a small discount to purchase a new one. Purchased the new one and had to wait 1 month to have it installed and the old one removed. Why Whirlpool/ Kitchenaid would make a replacement that had different interior dimensions is beyond me. They installers couldn™€™t install as they weren™€™t prepared to cut 1™€x 30™€ to fit the new one. The installers called Whirlpool and I was told I would be refunded the $140, but that never came. The new one is louder as it has an internal fan, and also makes noise on all burners when it is heating up a pot or pan.
